Hotels in Sacramento are seeing a sharp increase of check-ins and an upswing in the industry.
According to statistics by CBRE Hotels in San Francisco, occupancy rates in 2015 increased to nearly 75 percent. Those rates are up from just below 65 percent in 2010.
In the previous year, hotel room rates also saw an increase of 7 percent.
President and CEO of the Sacramento Metro Chamber Peter Tateishi said he is not surprised by those numbers.
“There is a kind of rejuvenation and an excitement about what our region has to offer to not just those here locally, but to visitors and people who want to experience something different,” said Tateishi.
Tateishi referred to the popularity of the Republic FC soccer team and plans to expand the city’s convention center as a few examples as to why Sacramento is experiencing more visitors.
