SPLAT

By Metro Chamber|July 6, 2016|Membership Spotlights|

The 3rd Annual Sacramento Public Latte Art Tournament’s (SPLAT) has begun with Metro Chamber members Old Soul, Naked Coffee and other local coffee shops participating in this tournament-style event.

Baristas compete in a bracketed head-to-head format. The winning design between two competitors is determined by a panel of three judges that take into account each pour’s contrast, definition, and symmetry. Judges will make their decisions “blind” and will not be able to decipher which design corresponds to its respective barista. Any spilling leads to a disqualification. The winner moves on to the next round. Each round has specific guidelines on what a competitor must pour:

Round 1: Hearts
Round 2: Tulips
Round 3: Rosettas
Round 4: Barista’s choice

Each tournament acts as qualifiers for the grand finale event, the winners of which will take home grand prizes from the likes of Unic, Baratza, and La Marzocco.

Attend the next event on July 28th at 7pm – Old Soul, 1716 L Street in the Alley
