Chamber View: 31 Years of Leadership Sacramento

By Metro Chamber|November 1, 2016|News Coverage|

Every fall, a new class of community leaders join the Metro Chamber Foundation’s Leadership Sacramento program. In 31 years, nearly 1,000 elected officials, CEOs, non-profit leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators have graduated from the program.

This year-long experience brings together a group of strangers to examine regional issues from healthcare to education and civic amenities to history, the class dives deeply into the topics that shape our region and the players and organizations leading the charge. The goal for each session is to provide participants a unique behind-the-scenes experience that furthers their knowledge of each subject, demonstrating the impact the subject has in the region and providing connection to enable community engagement.

Additionally, each class selects a community project benefiting a local non-profit, and works collaboratively throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for a specific issue or project. A group of individuals brought together through shared experiences builds relationships and fosters connectivity to one’s community.

Alumni from the classes often return to act as a day chair, lending their expertise in their industry to educate the current class or serve as a connection to the class’s community project or even serve as the program chair helping lead and mentor the class through the program throughout the year. There are a number of ways to stay connected to the program and in fact, if you are alumni and we’ve lost touch, please let us know!

The Metro Chamber Foundation is committed to meet the challenges of developing young professionals and inspiring them to stay in the Capital Region. Leadership Sacramento directly bridges education and workforce gaps for emerging leaders and young professionals who will be the leaders that bring our region to the next level in years to come.

We know creating opportunities for today’s leaders to build relationships will foster collaboration that will directly impact our region’s future. We are excited to soon welcome the class of 2017 and a new class of alumni from the class of 2016.
