Former Nehemiah Cos. president Darrell Teat will head the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce on an interim basis.
The chamber announced the appointment of Teat to the interim president/CEO position Thursday, with current president Peter Tateishi set to step down at the end of the month.
“Darrell is a proven champion for our region and a highly supportive and engaged member of the Chamber,” said Chris Delfino, incoming chamber board chair, in a press release. “His strong background working in the nonprofit sector and deep understanding of the unique needs and priorities of the business community will greatly benefit our members during this time of transition.”
Teat, also president and CEO of Darrell Teat & Associates, is not a candidate for the job on a permanent basis, according to the release.
Nehemiah Cos. was known for urban renewal and development projects for several years, but wound down many of those activities more recently to focus on other ventures, such as its Emerging Leaders training program. Teat was one of the first graduates of that program, in 2009.
Tateishi, chamber president/CEO since late 2014, announced last month he would leave the chamber to become CEO of the Associated General Contractors of California, which is headquartered in West Sacramento.
