Sacramento Business Journal: “Business Interests Get Behind Steinberg’s Measure A ‘Strong Mayor’ Campaign”

Sacramento Business Journal reporter Felicia Alvarez dived deep into Measure A, the “Sacramento Mayoral Accountability and Community Equity Act,” on this year’s ballot. The Metro Chamber supports the passage of Measure A, which would change the structure of the Sacramento City Council. Currently, the position of mayor is one of nine seats on the council. Under Measure A, the mayor’s seat would become a separate position, with more oversight of the city’s budget and a new, ninth city council seat would be created.

“Accountability is a huge issue for businesses,” Blackwood said. “We want a chief executive that is accountable to results. If this is our budget, there are outcomes we expect to see.”
