The Sacramento Metro Chamber has named Bob Swanson, Shareholder at Boutin Jones Inc. – one of Sacramento’s largest business law firms – as Chair of the 2022 Board of Directors. Swanson follows Dave Roughton, President & CEO of SAFE Credit Union, who served the Metro Chamber as Chair throughout 2021. The transition officially took place at the 127th Annual Dinner & Business Awards that occurred on February 11, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento.
“First, I’d like to express sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Dave Roughton for his steadfast dedication, thought-leadership and strategic counsel during an extremely challenging – yet very successful – year,” said Amanda Blackwood, President & CEO of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. “And, looking forward to a promising 2022, Bob’s laser-sharp focus and depth of knowledge from serving as legal counsel to companies in a wide range of industries – including banking, real estate, and healthcare, just to name a few – will be fully utilized as we continue efforts to design and advocate for a path toward full business recovery for the region.”
As Chair, Swanson will work closely with Blackwood to support the Chamber’s topline initiatives that include the following: identifying workable solutions for businesses navigating issues related to the homeless crisis, continuing efforts to inspire and assist businesses to get started and/or grow their operations, and the expansion of talent pipelines with a focus on recruitment and retention of the workforce to stay in Sacramento. Swanson will work to lead an impressive Board of Directors that includes leaders from the region’s top organizations, including small to large businesses, spanning a wide range of industries. Their volunteer leadership, expertise and guidance help make the Metro Chamber one of the most influential chambers in the country, enabling success in advocacy and initiatives which benefit our membership and the entire Capital Region.
In addition to his prestigious 30-year legal career, Swanson has been active in the community by serving on the boards of other nonprofit organizations such as YMCA of Greater Sacramento, Mission Aviation Fellowship (international relief organization) and Elk Grove Rotary.
