Sacramento, Calif. – The Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (Metro Chamber) announced today the hiring of Jenna Abbott as Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. Her official start date with the organization is June 1. Prior to joining the Metro Chamber team, Ms. Abbott served the River District as Executive Director.
“Jenna will be a strong voice for the Sacramento business community,” said Amanda Blackwood, President & CEO of Metro Chamber. “As a proud city resident, Jenna understands the needs facing our region and will represent the Metro Chamber well as we continue to advance our public policy, advocacy and economic development agendas.”
Well known throughout the Sacramento region for her ability to formulate strategic plans with measurable outcomes, Ms. Abbott has an impressive track record for delivering complex projects on time and on budget while forming strong partnerships.
“Jenna is a seasoned, effective policy leader with a decade of experience advocating for and advancing pro-business public policy here in the Sacramento region,” continued Ms. Blackwood.
“As a proven catalyst of change, her successes at the Mack Road Partnership and River District illustrate what I know she will do for the entire business community.”
Ms. Abbott holds a designation as a Certified Zero Waste Practitioner completed in 2018, was named the Sacramento Police Department’s Business Partner of the Year in 2016, was awarded both the California State Assembly Nonprofit of the Year and the Martin Luther King Changemaker Award in 2015 and was chosen as the Sacramento Kings Community All-Star Award in 2014.
In addition, Ms. Abbott has been recognized numerous times by the State Assembly, Congress and Senate for her outstanding contributions to the community she has served. She is a graduate of the Sacramento City Management Academy and the FBI Citizen’s Academy, Citizen’s Planning Academy, an alumnus of Leadership Sacramento, and has travelled to Washington DC as a delegate on the Metro Chamber’s Capitol to Capitol program every year since 2013.
