Sacramento City Councilwoman Angelique Ashby is picking up an important endorsement in her campaign for mayor.
The Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Political Action Committee is endorsing Ashby for Mayor. Chairman Roy Brewer says the committee made its decision after two forums and private meetings between chamber officials and the candidates.
“The Metro PAC is confident that Angelique Ashby can lead the community forward in economic development and economic growth and can help the business community attract new jobs to Sacramento,” Brewer said.
Councilwoman Ashby believes a big part of the next Mayor’s role will be capitalizing on the momentum behind redeveloping.
“Not just in downtown, but in the northern part of the city where the moratorium has been lifted, and also in the southern part of the city where we have the development for the first time in decades there at the delta shores,” Ashby stated.
Councilwoman Ashby has also been endorsed by the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange, Sacramento Laborers Union and the local unions for firefighters and police.
Ashby’s primary opponent, former State Senate leader Darrell Steinberg, also has a number of endorsements including Region Business and the Sacramento Central Labor Council.
