Cities throughout California are taking up proposals to increase the minimum wage, in some cases, as high as $16/hour (City of Emeryville, CA). In the Sacramento Region, proponents are seeking $15/hour. Here at the Sacramento Metro Chamber, we know our members’ needs and concerns, and we fight every day to share your story. We have been invited to participate in a task force to study income inequality by the City of Sacramento. Through this process, we will communicate what our members have told us should an increase to minimum wage be proposed. In fact, when we talked with our members and businesses, ninety-one percent (91%) say a minimum wage increase will negatively affect their business.
