Peter Tateishi, president and chief executive officer of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce for the past three years, will leave the post at the end of the year.
Trish Rodriguez, who chairs the chamber’s board of directors, announced Tateishi’s resignation in letter posted Tuesday on the organization’s website.
Teteishi, who previously served as CEO of the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange, assumed his duties as chamber president and CEO in January 2015, succeeding Roger Niello.
“Three years ago, the board welcomed Peter into the Chamber family , with the goal of positioning and strengthening the Chamber for the future,” Rodriguez said in the letter. “His background in public policy and identifying innovations for membership recruitment in the construction industry made him he right choice to lead the Chamber.”
Tateishi was charged with taking a critical look at the chamber’s programs and operations, Rodriguez said. His achievements included refocusing the chamber’s workforce development programs, leadership development and internship offerings through the Metro Chamber Foundation. He also managed the Small Business Development Center, creating more that $32 million in total capital and starting more than 100 new businesses in the region since December 2014, the letter states.
“Peter has certainly provided a strong foundation for our future, and we wish him the best as he moves forward to a new career opportunity,” Rodriguez said in the letter.
The board is already working to find a new president and CEO, she said, with the goal of identifying the top candidate by the end of the year.
